Supply Chain Thought Leader
John Gattorna, stands at the forefront of supply chain ‘thought leadership’ in the world today, and his work has influenced many of today’s leading multi-national corporations. He has made it his passion in life to stay at the cutting edge of supply chain design, and his last three books are testament to that, the most recent being Dynamic Supply Chains; how to design, build and manage people-centric value networks, 3rd edn., FT Prentice Hall, Harlow, 2015.
His advanced methodologies offer a way of dealing with the ‘new normal’ operating environment, characterized by volatility, and yet more volatility, with no respite in sight. John’s work has taken on a ‘whole-of-enterprise’ feel and scope, because he steadfastly believes that you can only transform enterprise supply chains if you transform the entire enterprise, hence his multi-disciplinary approach to supply chain design, from ‘outside-in’, using ‘design thinking’ principles.
John is Executive Chairman of Gattorna Alignment, a Sydney-based Firm specialising in supply chain ‘thought leadership’, and Adjunct Professor at UTS Business School, Sydney, Australia. His personal website is: www.johngattorna.com

Major League Baseball All-Star
Baseball’s “Iron Man,” Cal Ripken, Jr. broke several professional baseball records during his 21 seasons, but none is as sacred as his consecutive-games-played record. Shattering Lou Gehrig’s streak of 2,131 games by more than 500, Ripken displayed perseverance, endurance, and an everyday work ethic that endeared him to fans, transformed him into a national icon — and some argue, even saved baseball at its darkest moment.
Founded in 2001, Ripken Baseball aims to inspire athletes through remarkable experiences. Ripken Baseball currently owns multiple Minor League Baseball teams and hosts numerous youth tournaments, camps and clinics at The Ripken Experience baseball complexes in Aberdeen, Maryland and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
In 2011, Ripken was named as a special envoy for the U.S. State Department, promoting teamwork and cross-cultural communication to Japan. Working with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to fulfill her mission of diplomacy and unity through sports, Ripken has among his responsibilities visiting tsunami- and earthquake-ravaged towns and running baseball camps.
Ripken is the author of numerous books on sports and parenting, and he is currently writing a children book series with ESPN Radio’s Colin Cowherd. Ripken’s autobiography The Only Way I Know is a New York Times bestseller.
An inspirational speaker, Cal Ripken, Jr. is the personification of leadership, commitment, and excellence. In a warm and witty presentation filled with stories from his illustrious career, he shows how these keys to success apply to the business world as well as to the baseball field. From his own philanthropy with the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation and his dedication to helping children around the country through the Boys & Girls Clubs and the charity NikeGo, Ripken showcases how individuals can give back and create new opportunities for others. One of the most popular athletes of his generation, Cal Ripken, Jr.’s example inspires audience members of all ages to achieve their own brand of success.
